Write a lyric of loss....

It can be any kind of loss.... lost love, loss of all your hair, loss of all your teeth, loss of your memory LOL
Make it funny or serious - your choice.

Expires 2/28/10
Please post replies to this thread (though you can also post them in the new poetry areas if you're really happy with it and want to share it :) )

I Will Try

If you want me to stop loving you,
I will try.
If you need me to stop caring for you,
I'll never know why
If you wish me to stop needing you
to stop believing in you
no matter how much I cry,
I will try.

If you want me to hate you,
I'm sorry, I can't.
If you need me to forget about you,
please know that I won't.
If you wish me to just put us aside
even though my heart will die
as time goes by,
I will try.

Ty... did I meet the challenge or a vague resemblance thereof...

& that alone brings up a question if I may ask... the challenges alone beg to wonder (might be just me); are you an English teacher/professor, or a modest fan like I to whom all these are written for ulterior & nefarious motives...? :|

(Here's my modification. It was done very quick.)

It’s been seven years
Since you went away
To join the skies above
I still cry my tears
Almost every day
I forever hold your love

Forever hold your love
As I pray to God above
Please hold a spot for me
I'm coming home to my baby

Forever hold your love
The time was not enough
I can't wait for you to see
My love will last eternity

Are you happy now?
In your perfect life
As you dine with Jesus Christ
I must take a bow
And turn off the light
I’ll be joining you tonight

Forever hold your love
As I pray to God above
Please hold a spot for me
I'm coming home to my baby

Forever hold your love
The time was not enough
I can't wait for you to see
My love will last eternity

Nice one Marvin!

And Mel... no I'm no academic. Just a lowly software developer who took up poetry about 6 years ago as a hobby. I like the challenges just because I think they help us to write something. No matter how good or bad I think the act of writing something helps us.

I like to do the national poetry month challenge of writing a poem a day for Poetry Month (April in the US) and typically I might only get 5 or 6 decent poems out of the 30.

Like I have said many times I'm not a writer of lyrics. This is my try for the challenge and it pretty much just flowed out of my head as is so any comments from you song writers on where I went wrong will be good!

She Was an Angel

I see her handprint on the wall
a muddy little image
she made when she was three

<short interval of music only>

she was her daddy's little girl
she was an angel bound to earth
'til somebody set her free

(chorus)
And I'm missing all the kisses
and the hugs she gave to me
I'm missing all the memories
of days that'll never be

He'd just become a man that day
of legal age to drink
and didn't mean to take my girl away

Too many beers to celebrate
too dumb to know the danger
to an angel in the street that day

(chorus)
And I'm missing all the kisses
and the hugs she gave to me
I'm missing all the memories
of days that'll never be

I see her handprint on the wall
a muddy little image
she made when she was three

And I can't bear to wipe it clean
for my angel put it there
before somebody set her free

(chorus)
And I'm missing all the kisses
and the hugs she gave to me
I'm missing all the memories
of days that'll never be

<repeat music only >

<fading>
I'm missing all the memories
of days that'll never be

Hey John I really do like this. You did great.

I didn't realize it was lyrics so I'm going to have to modify my previous poem.

Oops, I misunderstood. I wrote a lyric, but not a complete one like a whole song... my bad.

& understood on your persona wordtamer. Your programming is just as respectable, even more so. I bet many teachers & professors have problems with computers! Just imagine if we were still back in the DOS days now! lol. DOS... that brings up memories... 'sniff', I miss my C=64...... but not the Trash 80's in high school. Basic, Cobol, Fortran, Pascal, Hexadecimal, Assembly, Machine languages, AAAALLLL went bye bye with the advent of the mouse & windows.

I did like both of your lyrics, gentlemen. Both of you gave me a tear & misty memories.........

Thanks Mel... yeah, the c-64 was a fun little machine. I wrote a simple assembler for mine when I had it and lots of games :) Before that I had a TI-99/4A which was a 16 bit computer... pretty cool little machine. Actually LOL... I still have it sitting out in the garage with the peripheral expansion box, expanded memory, floppy drive... haven't fired it up in a long time... not since my oldest son was a young teen and he's 25 now.

True.

ahh, the C=64... (insert old man wheezing voice) There was no internet, hours of busy signals just to connect to another computer running a text-only bulletin board system at 300 baud & we LOVED IT.

I never was a hacker, but our CCUG did work on copy protection on games... lol. Favorite game on the Commodore - Sword of Fargoal by Epyx.
